We will not include the kqemu module in the debian package
for various reasons. It's non-free software and that would
force us to move the whole package to the non-free section,
a thing we would not do (even if allowed), we will not trade
features or speed for freedom. We are really not allowed to
redistribute it anyway. It's only available for x86, and
the package is used on more architectures so other users would
not be able to "benefit" from it.

I beg to differ on this one :

Obviously, kqemu *cannot* be included in Debian main or contrib presently (I wish Fabrice a lot of luck in his sponsor's hunt, howsver ; with a bit of luck, we might end up with a free kqemu someday). However, since kqemu is only an *ad-on* to qemu, which does *not* modify it in any way, qemu does *not* depend on kqemu. Therefore, there *might* be a solution :

- Obtain redistribution rights from Fabrice (the most important and difficult point !), both for the "source" he distributes and for the resultant module.
- package qemu in main and kqemu in non-free (that's why non-free exists, and its continued existence has been voted not long ago). kqemu would have to depend on qemu, but not the reverse !
- Source distribution : distribute the free sources in main and the non-free kqemy source in non-free.

Or am I misunderstanding DFSG ?

Sincerely,
