Well a % complete would be difficult/impossible, as we can't easily determine how much work we have to do. I guess I could look at providing output of the number of files processed or something like that, but that would be useless info though. Would a spinner like web browsers do be sufficient? I guess I could add a progress bar that just moves forward and back to indicate the app is working, and if any (future) functionality allows % complete feedback, that can displayed using the same widget.
