This issue also affects other UTF-8 locales that use non-ASCII characters e.g. accented Latin charcters in Finnish and French, Arabic, etc. Btw, as suggested elsewhere in this bug's thread, I tried with Verdana, even specifying is10646 as the encoding, but it still doesn't fix it.
