Normally you should have "yelp" installed. I had considered making

Making it a dependency seems the best, because the user who is
unfamiliar with the puzzles really needs the help, and using man for
this is inconvenient (unless it is possible to make man the "default
action command" - is i?).
Now of course yelp by itself pulls in a lot more things. All together it
seems rather a lot of packages are needed for this "simple" puzzle
system, but I suppose that's just how it is.
Anyway thanks very much for your solution: with "yelp" it works.
BTW I am not familiar with the way dependencies work, and this was the
first time I heard about grep-available, but grep-available -F Depends
yelp on my system returns information about quite lot of packages
like gnome-core, gramps, pioneers-help, etc.).
