Yeah, actually, have you reviewed the debian bug history? I have here

Alright, pygtk can't do anything about this, but they have provisioned a
fix. Please read

Apparently newer versions of pygtk have a
pyg_disable_warning_redirections function/macro that disables all the
redirections again, and this really should be used by xchat when
available.
