Thank you for your bug report, and my apologies on the delay in responding.
 The version you fetched from sourceforge, V2.35 (which is the CVS
revision), is the same version that was distributed in the Debian package
2.20-1.  If you'd like to test the Debian version, you can retrieve it from:
 http://snapshot.debian.net/package/clusterssh

However, I've looked at the differences between the 2.18 and 2.20 packages
and the differences are mostly cosmetic.  I believe the problem you are
experiencing is due to the Debian 2.x packages defaulting to
"x-terminal-emulator" for the "default.terminal" configuration variable.

Your system's x-terminal-emulator probably points (via the alternatives
mechanism) to gnome-terminal or another terminal emulator that is
incompatible with clusterssh.  You should be able to continue to use the
Debian package by either updating x-terminal-emulator to point to xterm, or
(preferably) by setting default.terminal in your ~/.csshrc file to xterm.
