Me again... The last weekend I was working entirely with Gimp and it had wriiten an ~/.xsession-errors of over 80 MByte. All errors with contents I am not interested in.
Attached a gnuzip file with a sniplet of the errors...
Oh yes, - I was working on over 5000 pics in two days.
