The only backport issue would be with -11 and -12; before -11, we used
getopt to parse the arguments, which didn't fiddle with OPTIND.

I suppose you could use lsb-base (<= 3.1-10) | lsb-base  (>= 3.1-13)
for safety's sake, just in case someone wants to run with lsb-base
from sarge.  Or they're using DCC or some other thingy.
