Based on this discription, I have no idea what can be the problem.  I
suspect some kernel issue.  Is this still a problem?

Can you provide the output from these commands executed as root?  It
might make it easier to debug this problem.

  (lspci ; lspci -n)|sort
  /sbin/discover-modprobe -nv
