I wrote:

6 1 * * 7/4 root [ -x /usr/share/mdadm/checkarray ] &&
/usr/share/mdadm/checkarray --cron --all --quiet

would be closest to the described intention.

That's actually wrong, sorry.

I guess simply choosing a certain day of the month is the closest to
the original intention of runing it on the 1st sunda of the month.
