The problem IMO is realy with fvwm because: 1) I have no problem changing to an other vti with CTRL+ALT+Fi when I am at the xdm login screen. or I am working under gnome
2) fvwm is launched rather late into the .xsession So there is a window of opportunity that I can try CTRL+ALT+Fi, without fvwm running. At that moment I have no problem switching to an other vti.
