OK.  Personally I like the GTK2 look much better, even with its problems.  
The main reason is that all of my available fonts look crappy in GTK1.  
The GTK2 look is much easier on the eyes, even with minor blemishes. 

BTW I have no idea if this particular problem happened in the GTK1 version.  
It may have.
