After running -rc5 for a while, I tried just now -rc6 again and everything works perfectly. I haven't changed anything, but suddenly it works. Which is the same list of symptoms as with the previous kernel versions -- first it doesn't work, then without any explanation it does work (and it was after more than just one reboot, there were multiple reboots in meantime).
