Package: cacti Followup-For: Bug #378830 Hi.
After issueing a dpkg-reconfigure cacti, I was able to provide the database parameters (choosing Yes to reconfigure the database), and afterwards, the parameters are set : # /usr/sbin/dbconfig-load-include --dbname=database_default --dbpass=database_password --dbuser=database_username --dbserver=database_hostname -f php /etc/cacti/debian.php dbc_dbuser='cacti'; dbc_dbpass='xxxxxxxxx'; dbc_dbname='cacti'; dbc_dbserver=''; But it still fails the same way, as there is still no database created. After creating the database as explained in /usr/share/doc/cacti/README.Debian.gz, now, it works. I'm afraid the configuration phase's first dialog is ambiguous. It says : "Since you are reconfiguring cacti, you may also want to reinstall the database which it uses. If you wish to re-install the database for cacti, you should select this option. If you do not wish to do so (if you are reconfiguring the package for unrelated reasons), you should not select this option." But it seems to me that all it does is configure the cacti conf files so that it finds the database if it exists, and won't create the database (or it silently fails on that stage). Anyway, the workaround is to create the database manually as instructed by the README.Debian, and reconfigure... Hope this helps.
