Interesting. We did almost precisely the opposite for almost precisely the same reasons, 6 years and an order of magnitude of bug reports ago ;-) But since you are the current console-tools maintainer, I guess you know what is going on... Is kbd actively maintained again and better now? Is there a thread I should read? I'm a little uneasy about the idea of changing this so close to etch release, given I've had no-one complain and ask me to change the default because something didn't work for them, and given the small incompatibilities between the two that do exist. I'd probably label this a 'major' transition at this late stage in the cycle, but if the release team seconds you on this, then I can bend my reality to suit theirs. I don't see many problems with following this up post-etch though... But this caught me a bit by surprise, so perhaps there are other things I also don't see yet.
