Hi,
Do you have any ideas what might be causing this? Or a work around? I
can't figure out if this is a bug with XV or ogle itself, or even a
hardware issue. There's a bit more info in the bug log @ http://
bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=389709
Thanks,
Alan

Hi Alan,
Thanks for the lightning-speed update!
I tried both the generic ogle_0.9.2-2sarge1_i386.deb and the MMX-
tailored ogle-mmx_0.9.2-2sarge1_i386.deb
When I put a DVD and started ogle they both exited with identical
error:

Turning the --debug option on it appears that ogle attempts to do
some kind of a window resize operation prior to the BadAlloc
failure. Indeed, for fraction of a second one sees a small window
with blue background appearing, which then immideately disappears
as ogle aborts.

I briefly went through the DIFF file, searching for keywords which
might be related to the problem (such as "resize", "alloc", etc).
It seems to me that this problem wasn't specifically addressed in
the recent ogle fixes.
Regards,
Vladimir
As promised, I've applied one of the patches introduced into the
newer
versions in unstable to the version in stable, which should have
built
without any change in dependencies (I hope). Could try these and
confirm
if it fixes it? If it does I'll try and get an update into sarge...
http://users.aber.ac.uk/ajw05/debian/
I actually do have a sarge machine with very similar hardware to
yours,
but no DVD drive unfortunately so I can't actually confirm the bug
myself. I think this may fix it though. If not then I'll dig
around further.
Alan
