And in the postinst-file I find:
...
ln -sf /usr/share/games/fortunes-de/${j}.dat
/usr/share/games/fortunes/de/${j}.dat
...

So the diversion for the text file work but the one for the dat file is
ignored.

I have to admit that I fail to see the bug in fortunes-de. If you
install a local package with diversions so it is your job to care
for all files and links to be diverted. If the postinst installs
the symlinks in the package you probably have to do the diversion
of the symlinks.

understand whether I should change something in fortunes-de, to
circumvent this, reassign the bug to dpkg-divert or whether your local
diversion is just broken (and we could close the bug).

See above. It is no dpkg-divert bug, its a (small) bug of the
fortunes-de package and doing a way around dpkg.

Well, I do not want to evaluate whether it is a small or a big
bug. If it *is* a bug, then I will fix it but *what* is the bug.
The package installs files and sets symlinks in the postinst.
What do you think should I do differently to help you.

BTW, to the Jean Paul quotes: Yes, you are right they are 50% rubish
(at least) and I would definitely accept patches to the data files
that remove this rubish or would you think it might make sense to

I put a small script in the attachment to remove them. ;-)

Thanks for this script but a quick view into the source would
have shown you that you can simply delete a single file
    data/zitate/paul

Kind regards

           Andreas.
