The update notifier was working fine on my system but suddenly the tray icon dissapeared. ps reports that it is running: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ps -e | grep update 6548 ? 00:00:05 update-notifier When updates are available and I start a sesion then the tooltip that looks like a cartoon dialog tells me that about the updates and points me to the place in the tray where the update-notifier is and if I move the mouse slowly in the notification area then a tooltip shows up in the place where the update-notifier goes so if I press there the update-manager is launched.
