I'm a bit stumped w.r.t the ia64 problem:

./lisp.run -B . -N locale -E 1:1 -Efile UTF-8 -Eterminal UTF-8 -norc -m 1800KW
-M halfcompiled.mem -q -c gray.lisp
;; Compiling file /build/buildd/clisp-2.40/debian/build/gray.lisp ...
;; Wrote file /build/buildd/clisp-2.40/debian/build/gray.fas
0 errors, 0 warnings
./lisp.run -B . -N locale -E 1:1 -Efile UTF-8 -Eterminal UTF-8 -norc -m 1800KW
-M halfcompiled.mem -q -c case-sensitive.lisp
make[1]: ./lisp.run: Command not found
make[1]: *** [case-sensitive.fas] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving directory `/build/buildd/clisp-2.40/debian/build'
make: *** [build-stamp] Error 2

makes no sense at all.
