Package: sun-java5-jre Version: 1.5.0-08-1 Severity: minor Hi,
I just needed to install the Java Advanced Imaging API and found that the README.Debian in this package is misleading. It says to install extensions into /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.08/ext and native libs into /u/l/j/j/<ARCH>. This doesn't work as those paths are not in the classpaths/native-lib paths. The correct would be to mention /usr/lib/jvm/java.../jre/lib/ext and /u/l/j/j/jre/lib/i386. On a side note: Putting extensions into these directories is AFAIK not the proper way in Debian. Extensions should go into a directory under /usr/local, so maybe it would be possible to create something like /usr/local/share/java for jars and also use /usr/local/lib for native libs?
