Well, you can /start/ it, but as soon as mutt /does/ anything substantial, i.e. expunge a mailbox, copy a message etc., it will crash. > But I don't know. why I need that..... Well, the point is that I had LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libaoss.so in my .bashrc for some time, in an attempt to make OSS applications "just work". Obviously this has a number of unwanted side effects.
