gailtreeview.c file is not part of agave package. In fact, this file is not present in any of the Debian unstable packages. It is present in gail package, which is currently in experimental.

I am running Debian unstable, and agave works without any flaw on my system. I guess I can't help you here, the bug seems to be in the gail package.
