Hi Martin, hi Loic! being the gnome-mount maintainer I'm aware of this problem. Martin, you surely remember that we already discussed this issue some time ago. Your concerns were mostly, that reintroducing /dev/dm-* devices might break dm/lvm related packages. Asking around on IRC the only answer I got from DDs with lvm/dd experience was, that /dev/dm-* are not created to avoid clutter in /dev (well, that point is surely arguable) and apps *should* use /dev/mapper devices directly, because that was the canonical way nowadays. I didn't get more specific answers.
Talking to hal/gnome-mount upstream (davidz) and Kay Sievers, they both confirmed, that suppressing the creation of /dev/dm-* is broken and should be reverted. So, I'd recommend to remove this rule from /etc/udev/udev.rules. Weighing a less cluttered /dev against a working hal, I definitely go for the latter.
