My plan is to wait until 1.8.2 is "officially" released. What I see on geomview.org right is a "release candidate" and the accompanying Notes file indicates rapid, unstable development, which doesn't lend itself to inclusion in Debian. Thank you for alerting me to geomview's recent release.
