B> Is an additional command line argument to be run at start time really
B> necessary?
Well all I know is that you might want to document my research
findings to save other users hours:
screen(1) has
$ screen -e "``"
To do the same with ratpoison, one uses
ratpoison & ratpoison -c "escape grave"
Not sure what all this means,
meta [key] (C-t t)
Send the escape key (that which normally is C-t) to the current
window. If a key is specified, this is
sent instead. Note that some applications by default ignore
the synthetic key that is sent using this
command as it is considered a security hole. xterm is one such
application.
All I know is to get a real grave sent through, one must now type
"grave CTRL-grave" (`C-`)
Not sure how to make "grave grave" send one grave. All these are
mysteries that the man page could answer in a FAQ.
Maybe one does
$ ratpoison & ratpoison -c "escape grave" -c "meta grave"
but I didn't try it, (as older users can't learn too much too fast.
I will probably stick with icewm, but will look into reducing its bar
fatness.)
Sorry for not opening extra bugs but:
P.S., Reading the complex File: ratpoison.info, Node: Concepts,
one wishes there was a demo script that would show users all the
things ratpoison can do, while the user sips his soyshake.
I found and tried
$ sh /usr/share/doc/ratpoison/examples/split.sh
but it seemed to mess up my terminal badly. Had to kill ratpoison from
/dev/tty1 and restart it.
P.S., do document somewhere how ratpoison users prefer to use gimp(1).
All I know is that it is a shock to former icewm users.
P.S.,
IceWM: Another window manager already running, exiting...
is clearer and less smartypants than
ratpoison: There can be only ONE.
P.S., in icewm, I see a little box that shows a CPU status graph. Also
a box with modem transmit rate when on line. Document how ratpoison
users could get the same. Sorry I didn't check if you already did.
IceWM FAQ says:
Is there any way to have the time and date show in the taskbar? Yes.
man date || strftime
Mention ratpoison equivalent or if none.
