Hi, I tried to reproduce this by upgrading xterm from sarge to etch and didn't get any dangling symlink. I tried an upgrade with xterm as the only x-terminal-emulator package installed, as well as with xterm and rxvt, and I also tried setting the link to uxterm manually before the upgrade. This choice seems to be lost on upgrade (probably due to the path change for *xterm), but I got no dangling symlink. I'd appreciate your help in trying to understand how things went wrong for you, and if it's still possible for them to go wrong in case of a sarge->etch upgrade.
