Regarding #396853, While lsb_release reports the right level of LSB compliance it looks like
lsb_release -r (and -a which includes -r) incorrectly reports "3.1" for the Debian release version. I ran into another package where upstream is using /etc/debian_version to differentiate Debian releases. I'm going to recommend that they switch to lsb_release. One of the things I discovered about /etc/debian_version is that currently it is "4.0" in both etch and sid. It needs to freeze and the sid version be set back to "testing/unstable" like it normally is. Maybe the lsb-release package could follow the same scheme?
