Actually this warning doesn't seem to come from a straight version number check, it appears to come from a "supported features" check. Can you tell me what wodim features are detected by K3b on your system ? Go to "Settings | Configure K3b | Programs" and in the "Programs" tab, you should see one or two entries for "cdrecord" (with /usr/.../wodim as the binary).
