Hi again I have now tested on my system and it works just fine on i386. I have not tried with KDE and not with wmaker but with gnome on the client and no window manager att all on the server side it works just fine.
Client version 4.1.1+X4.3.0-20 and server is the same as you used. It would be interesting to know if you can get it to work in some way.
