The plan is to drop the provides and conflicts and replaces post-etch. 

And I totally agree with your remark about the semantics of the provides
statement.

In any case the Provides is not mandated, since there are no C
extensions in pymacs. I'll drop it once etch is released. 

I could switch back to python-pymacs, if you feel that this would be
more python-policy compliant. On the other hand, this is not really a
python library, more an emacs extension. Maybe pymacs-el would be more
to the point...
