Subject: alsa-utils: aplaymidi plays but 1 note: conflict with chrony Package: alsa-utils Version: 1.0.11-3bpo1 Severity: normal
*** Please type your report below this line *** aplaymidi plays only the first note of a midi file. Strace shows that it stops after ioctl(3, SNDRV_SEQ_IOCTL_SET_CLIENT_POOL, 0xbf8f1130) = 0 However the cpu becomes very busy and top shows that this abnormal activity is associated with chronyd. Stopping chrony resolves the problem. aplaymidi will usually function after restarting chronyd. I suspect this problem has been present ever since I installed chrony several months ago. I am currently running a locally compiled stock 2.6.18.3 kernel. Similar problems with pmidi, playmidi etc.: I suspect this is an alsa driver problem rather than application level.
