It has been a month now since I re-ping'd you, asking for the test of another upstream release, and I've seen no answer. I also cannot reproduce this bug either (on several boxes, including i386 and powerpc ones), following your instructions step by step. Both using XML export and not using it works fine here and there (I asked some friends too). I guess that this bug no longer exists, probably fixed in some new upstream release either of blender or of yafray, therefore I'm closing this bugreport. Feel free to reopen if the problem persists.
