Erk .. okay. It was a very long time ago. I've been using Debian
for the thick end of ten years. I'd suspect it was hamm that I
first started using mcrypt, but the memory ain't what it used to be.

At a guess it would have been something I was using in the
 1997-99 era.

Does the different suffix give it away in CVS or in old archive
versions .. as in, what era it's from, or better yet what the crypt
algorithm it used was? Ages ago I tried the 11 (or so?) algorithms
that the current version lets you select, but none of them gave
any joy. I thought that was weird, but there was no doubt about
the quality of the files (I had a few backup copies of them, and
 they hadn't been corrupted).

 Jedd.
