I guess it's normal stuff. This extension provides binary components, that are only provided for windows. I guess installing from scratch makes iceweasel check if it can register the components, which fail, and reject the extension then. IIRC, there was no similar check in Firefox 1.5, so if version 2.0 just assumes that since the extension was installed it's fine without checking the components again, then well, the extension is installed, but half working.
