/usr/share/doc/typo3/README.Debian.gz contains an excellent walk-through
of the things one needs to do to get a working typo3 setup.
But since the testsite and quickstart packages are no longer being
provided, a hint how to get them and get started with a basic "site" and
not just the framework would be helpful. (This info is provided in
RELEASE_NOTES.txt but I only stumbled on it by chance not expecting
anything really useful there. Plus, I couldn't find these extensions in
the EM yet??)
The other thing that's largely unobvious is that the Extension Manager
is a beast that needs far more resources than the 16MB and 30s runtime
provided by default. I had to edit /etc/apache2/conf.d/typo3-dummy.conf
and set
php_admin_value memory_limit 64M
php_admin_value max_execution_time 90
to successfully import the entire repository. Otherwise, one gets an
error message once, and from then on, EM pretends everything is ok, it
just won't list any extensions and only return empty search results. The
details are at http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=2615 and a lot of
related bugs - the fix is going to be in 4.1 but not 4.0.x
Do you think you could add info on these two points to README.Debian.gz?
Thanks a lot for finally providing up-to-date Debian packages and making
it so easy to install typo3!
