Package: cron
Version: 3.0pl1-86
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

It's sometimes difficult to distinguish between output from the
different jobs run as part of cron.daily. For instance, a recent email
I received contained these lines:

   run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/bugzilla exited with return code 1
   /etc/cron.daily/ntpdate:
   27 Dec 06:29:18 ntpdate[26274]: step time server 128.105.37.11 offset
-5.239138 sec
   /etc/cron.daily/register_dns:
   ez-ipupdate Version 3.0.11b8
   .
   .
   .

You'll notice that three different jobs were run in this example.
However, because the output from all three scripts runs together, it's a
little difficult to read the email. In this case, I missed the bugzilla
error for a couple of days.

It would be great if run-parts could visually distinguish between output
from each job that is run. Possible options include a blank line
between jobs, a ruler (----, ====) between jobs, or perhaps a ruler and
start/stop timestamp around each job.

Anything that would make it easier to diffentiate between output from
two consecutive jobs would help me.

Thanks!

KEN
