that iceweasel replaces that directory with a symlink but it can't do that if another package already has files in it. What i think needs to happen is that any plugins need to be modified to only put the files in the iceweasel directory and then i belive the iceweasel package needs to be made to conflict with the old versions of those packages but i'm not an expert on this.
