Hello,
radvd 1.0 now provides support for advertising Recursive DNS Servers
addresses through its Router Advertisement. Alas, it uses a non-standard
Neighbor Option type value (25) [1] to this end. At the very day, this
option is the logical next one to be allocated by IANA. Unfortunately,
it is not safe to assume that the next processed allocation will be for
RDNSS. There are other pending draft allocations (e.g.
draft-haberman-ipv6-ra-flags-option-00), and this may end up in a pretty
bad conflict during the future lifetime of Etch as Debian stable.
Fortunately, draft-jeong-dnsop-ipv6-dns-discovery-10 seems to be close
to publication, but it is just not there yet.
IMHO, this does not belong in Debian at the moment (except in
perhaps experimental). This should at the very least be documented in
the radvd.conf documentation.
