I'm sorry, I don't get the point here. I see what I think is a bug and I report it..:-) I see no pedantry. The normal procedure to report issues with Debian packages is by using the bug tracking system, *not* with personal email to maintainers. The BTS has "severities" which are aimed at categorising bugs by order of importance. Hence the "minor" severity I gave to my bug report.
