Package: openvpn Version: 2.0.9-3 Severity: normal The openvpn manpage's section on --up and --down do not include a 'gotchya' that I feel should be included to warn users of this package. When invoking an --up and --down script, in this case, mounting and unmounting a NFS server respectively, openvpn appears not to send any packets during the execution of these scripts, causing the mount and unmount requests to hang.
The documentation for --up and --down should include a line similar to the following: "The application or script specified by this parameter runs synchronously with openvpn - that is, the connection will hang during the execution of the script, and as such, is not suitable for NFS mount and unmount requests, or other commands dependent upon the VPN connection." -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.19.1 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages openvpn depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.11 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-9 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii liblzo1 1.08-3 data compression library (old vers ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8c-4 SSL shared libraries openvpn recommends no packages. -- debconf information: openvpn/change_init: false openvpn/stop2upgrade: false openvpn/default_port: openvpn/change_init2: false openvpn/create_tun: false -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
