I'm afraid I don't really see the rationale behind the severity of this bug report.
Does it really deserve the "important" severity because it "has a major effect on the usability of a package, without rendering it completely unusable to everyone"? My current opinion is that it does not fit this definition which makes me think that it should have its severity lowered to "normal". After all, all common use of su are not affected by this bug, which is triggered in a rather specific situation. A patch has been proposed for solving it. Please test it if you have such possibility.
