There are cases where we actually wanna strip the modifier. The @euro modifier was a quick hack to get around the fact that most Unices would assume pre-Euro currencies and character-set for default locales. Since Unicode has all the glyphs, we don't need it for the UTF-8 variant. Your comment brings a good point: always preserving the modifier, unless it is an exact match for @euro, might be a better strategy. -- Martin-Éric Racine http://q-funk.iki.fi
