This only fixes the symptoms by disabling the daemon, and doesn't explain why the daemon is crashing in the first time. You will get very poor performance when not using the gnome-vfs daemon for accessing SMB shares, which is why this isn't a very good idea. It seems the bug is lying in libhal or somewhere in what is send to it. Therefore, it would be nice if you could install libgnomevfs2-0-dbg, rebuild libhal, and try again gdb on /usr/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/gnome-vfs-daemon as explained in http://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace Thanks, -- .''`. : :' : We are debian.org.
