It looks like dvdisaster don't use libdvdread3 [1]: utemp:~$ ldd $(which dvdisaster) | grep dvd utemp:~$ Other programs (like self-compiled mplayer) uses libdvdcss via libdvdread and play CSS protected DVDs correctly.
