 I installed zsh-beta and removed zsh, the bug was different: no
 segfault at least.  I could use completion until reaching the strangely
 named folder, which is displayed as:
    Bjo�\M-^Hrk
 Hitting tab on "tmp-music/music-utf-8/Bj" completed to
 "tmp-music/music-utf-8/Bjo�^�rk", but then, even if subdirectories are
 present and readable, the completion would not continue.

 Adding a trailing "/" helped the completion to resume its work, and
 everything went fine afterwards.
