Actually, after cleaning out my HD and giving enough space to the partition where I put my pbuilder chroot, I have been able to build atlas3 in a pbuilder chroot while the attempt that triggered the FTBFS was done on my live system. So, I think this bug can be downgraded now. So, using the French locale could be an explanation, yes. I'll retry a build with a C locale on my live system just to check this.
