Package: hpodder Version: 0.99.1 Severity: wishlist Inexplicably, none of the podcast-handling pieces of software that I can find make it easy to synchronize my downloaded podcasts with my portable media player. hpodder seems like a good candidate for this, since it's highly scriptable; I could probably start by rsync'ing my podcast directory onto the portable, but it would be nice if I could teach hpodder to do this more intelligently.
In short, what I want is basically the ability to copy any podcasts that *have not already been copied* to a directory that I specify. I suggest the command "hpodder sync". This could be handled easily by extending the database table to hold a flag for each file indicating whether it's been synced (I can imagine a very slightly more complex approach that supports multiple synchronization targets; it might be worth implementing this for the sake of generality). Once I've got that, all I need to do is figure out how to launch it automagically when I plug the device in (I suppose gnome-volume-manager should be able to do that) and things will be very good. :-) (this bug report would be less incoherent if I were more than half awake or at least less than half asleep. I hope it made as much sense to you as it did to me) Daniel -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-3-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages hpodder depends on: ii curl 7.15.5-1 Get a file from an HTTP, HTTPS, FT ii id3v2 0.1.11-3 A command line id3v2 tag editor ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-10 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgmp3c2 2:4.2.1+dfsg-4 Multiprecision arithmetic library ii libsqlite3-0 3.3.8-1 SQLite 3 shared library hpodder recommends no packages. -- no debconf information
