Package: hpodder
Version: 0.99.1
Severity: wishlist

Inexplicably, none of the podcast-handling pieces of software that I
can find make it easy to synchronize my downloaded podcasts with my
portable media player. hpodder seems like a good candidate for this,
since it's highly scriptable; I could probably start by rsync'ing my
podcast directory onto the portable, but it would be nice if I could
teach hpodder to do this more intelligently.

In short, what I want is basically the ability to copy any podcasts
that *have not already been copied* to a directory that I specify. I
suggest the command "hpodder sync". This could be handled easily by
extending the database table to hold a flag for each file indicating
whether it's been synced (I can imagine a very slightly more complex
approach that supports multiple synchronization targets; it might be
worth implementing this for the sake of generality).

Once I've got that, all I need to do is figure out how to launch it
automagically when I plug the device in (I suppose gnome-volume-manager
should be able to do that) and things will be very good. :-)

(this bug report would be less incoherent if I were more than half
awake or at least less than half asleep. I hope it made as much
sense to you as it did to me)
