Package: fftw2 Version: 2.1.3-20 Severity: normal Currently, the fftw2 package installs the serial, threads, and MPI (distributed-memory) libraries. The latter means that fftw2 depends on an MPI implementation (currently MPICH). This is undesirable because the vast majority of packages depending on fftw2 almost certainly require only the serial (or threads) versions, and they should not have to install an MPI package too.
This is especially problematic with the upcoming transition to gfortran, since the MPICH currently depends on libg2c from an earlier gcc version (3.4.4). -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-vpsX Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages fftw2 depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-8 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libmpich1.0c2 1.2.7-2 mpich runtime shared library fftw2 recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
