I didn't try seamonkey or whatever as I don't have it installed (but 
I could check, if you'd want me to). 
Using links or wget works fine. As a work aorund I download the files 
to my ext3 homedir and mv them into place. So it's obviously no problem 
with the file system itself.
Even local files (file:///path/some.mtp3) cannot be stored on the 
FAT partition.
