Package: update-inetd Version: 4.27-0.2 Severity: important During package upgrades, the message from
update-inetd --add "www ...." is seriously misleading. If there already exists an entry for the port, but which is commented out in /etc/inetd.conf, like: #www ... the program claims to report that a new 'www' entry is being added: --------- IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR XINETD USERS ---------- The following line will be added to your /etc/inetd.conf file: www\tstream\ttcp\tnowait root\t/usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/micro_httpd /var/www If you are indeed using xinetd, you will have to convert the above into /etc/xinetd.conf format, and add it manually. See /usr/share/doc/xinetd/README.Debian for more information. ----------------------------------------------------------- Checking the /etc/inetd.conf however reveals that no such entry has been installed. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-3-686 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ISO-8859-1) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US) Versions of packages update-inetd depends on: ii debconf 1.5.11 Debian configuration management sy update-inetd recommends no packages. -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
